Q&A

Journal of Clinical Medicine Research. 2021 Dec; 13(12):572-574

Who will I be working with?

You will work directly with a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a credential indicating advanced knowledge in:

  • Exercise science

  • Athlete testing and profiling

  • Performance enhancement

  • Injury risk reduction

A CSCS is trained to work with both athletes and non-athletes safely and effectively.

Who is strength and conditioning suitable for?
  • Athletes (youth, amateur, semi-pro, elite)

  • Individuals returning from injury (in collaboration with clinicians)

  • Those wanting to improve strength, posture, confidence, or movement quality

Do I need to be experienced with lifting or exercise?

Not at all, we meet you at where you are and guide you through safe, effective movement at your own pace.

What happens in a session?
  • Warm-up and movement preparation

  • Strength and power development

  • Speed, agility, and plyometric training

  • Conditioning

  • Mobility or recovery work

  • Load monitoring and progression planning

Will strength training make me bulky?

Only if that is your goal. Programs can focus on strength, speed, mobility, or conditioning without increasing muscle mass. Hypertrophy requires specific training and nutrition.

What should I wear to my first session?

You should wear comfortable athletic clothing and shoes; it should be easy for you to move in them.

How long will it take for me to see results from training?

That is dependent on the type of training, the training goals, training consistency, and other outside factors.

Can I still seek training with a current or prior injury?

Yes! In the evaluation we’ll get your injury history and account for it when creating a training program. Accommodations will be made to the best of our ability, but if the injury is a constraint we will suggest you start with Physical Therapy services then transition to Strength and Conditioning.
